Bailii (pronounced ‘BayLee’) is a free to use service which contains UK and Irish judgments and other legal materials. It is supported by senior judges and the law school sector in the UK and is part of the wider Legal Information Institute movement which includes AustLii. Judgments are usually up within a few hours of receipt. The system is particularly useful for law teachers who wish to include cases in their teaching materials for two main reasons:
– the structure of Bailii (the way that cases are added) means that a link will always be the same so you can be sure that links do not go out of date, even 10 or more years later.
– there is no password required and this makes it very easy to integrate Bailii into teaching (you can also link directly to paragraphs within each document).
